In March 2024, I started working as a marketing manager at Temu. Over the past year, I’ve grown a lot in my role—from writing ad texts to shaping entire campaigns.
🧠 Ad package optimization
I research and test different ways to design and write our ad packages—always looking for ways to improve how we present products and tell stories.
📅 Holiday campaign planning
I look into Dutch holidays and cultural moments, and make suggestions for themed ad campaigns that feel timely and relatable.
🎬 Video scriptwriting
I write Dutch scripts for our ad videos, making sure the dialogue and scenarios feel natural and culturally relevant.
From marketing research to daily design work
What started as research turned into a full-on design responsibility. In my role, I wanted to improve how our ad packages looked and performed in the Dutch market. I began by researching what types of visuals worked well locally and shared these insights with my Chinese colleagues, who passed them along to the designers.
But along the way, I noticed that ideas often got lost in translation. So, I proposed to try making some designs myself. That’s when things started to shift—some of my early designs ended up being top performers in the Netherlands, staying in the top 20 for weeks.
Now, creating ad designs has become part of my daily work. Each week, I choose the product, design the package, write the ad copy, and launch the campaign myself. It’s been exciting to see this side of the role grow and become a key part of what I do.
